Milk Trial Update

It seems that H has outgrown her allergy to milk just as predicted by both the pediatrician and the allergist. We started out by giving her small amounts of bread that had milk baked into it. Gradually she got more and more until she was eating whole slices of bread with no problems. This week we introduced small amounts of pudding, yogurt, and cheese. Each were bites off of daddy's plate. This morning she had a small drink of cow's milk.

The plan now is to let her continue drinking soy milk because that is what she is used to and what she likes. However, we will start giving larger quantities of milk products and see how things go.

I would love for her to outgrow at least one of her allergies. This gives me hope that baby E will do the same.

Milk Trial

My daughter is coming up on her second birthday which means that it has been one full year since her last reaction to cow's milk protein and eggs via breastmilk. She has actually never had either directly. Shortly after this reaction we got her tested for food allergies. I had learned via the elimination diet that she was sensitive to milk and eggs when she was just 4 and 5 months old. I avoided both for the next 6 months.

Now it is time for us to start challenging her with both food groups to see if she is still allergic. First up, milk. We are starting by giving her bread that has milk 'baked' into it. So far so good. Next week we will try yogurt or cheese and then go from there.

Next month, eggs.
